Regression Analysis In Social Media Marketing

Category:Cindy W,Consultants,Personalized Marketing Inc,PM Inc,Real Marketing for Organic Growth,Website Design Tags :

Wow, it feels like forever since I wrote a blog post about marketing and this week’s blog is a little different than normal. I had previously written and saved a post about email platforms and their pitfalls, however that changed. Hang on tight, I’m having a ‘geek’ moment with this topic and yes, I had Cindy edit it since I get a little ‘uhm’ focused…

While doing some research in class, I came across a definition that resonated with me, that I immediately applied to Social Marketing: regression analysis in business. Personally, I found a simple definition that breaks it down and makes it easy to understand. According to Hunkar Ozyasar (2019) "Regression is a statistical tool used to understand and quantify the relation between two or more variables. Regressions range from simple models to highly complex equations. The two primary uses for regression in business are forecasting and optimization. In addition to helping managers predict such things as future demand for their products, regression analysis helps fine-tune manufacturing and delivery processes."

I am always trying to optimize the results that we provide for our clients, one example would be their social media marketing. Recently, the same shift that I have seen happen over the past 11 years is taking place, optimal posting time changes. By analyzing the data, I am better able to determine when the best time to post is, which puts the customers information about their products or services out at the peak times when their followers would see it, which impacts the delivery of network posting. This posting shift happens throughout the year and will shift again before 2019 is over.

At Personalized Marketing Inc, we do analytics on social networks that we monitor and then use that information to determine how well we are doing our jobs. The information is also used to base what days and times are best for posting. It can also provide useful information about network peak time shifts. Now those who live on their social channels probably won’t notice that there is a time the network is slower than others. They may also not notice that some days are more active than other days, but for those who are using social networks to reach current and future connections, they just might.

The time of year, the season, the holidays, current events and even weather can play a ‘huge’ roll in whether that awesome post you wrote gets seen. Just because it sits on your timeline or on your business page does not mean that it reached the target audience. So, let’s use Facebook after work… Just like your target audience you get a ton of notifications of things you have missed. Now you might click every single one and check them all out but while you are that notorious feed is still going strong. Or if you are on your phone, you click that notification, check it out, then bam you are scrolling through another page. What happened to all those other notifications, if you notice the number count is gone! They are still there but the reminder is missing until a new notification comes back. Sure, your phone might have told you that you had 25 notifications, but you went down the pathway towards somewhere else following just one. Guess what? So did your target audience. Paying attention to when, what channel, what content and how to reach your target audience is all hidden inside that important data. Knowing what’s trending now is important, knowing your networks history is just as important!

I hope you found the blog useful and for those other entrepreneurs check out Small Business at Chron, they have some great information.

Behind the Scenes with Cindy

Category:Cindy W,Consultants,Manager,Personalized Marketing Inc,PM Inc Tags :

Dee decided to take a break for this blog so we figured I would pop in and talk to you. Who’s this? You may have read Dee talking about her manager, Cindy. That’s ME! I joined Personalized Marketing Inc. a little over a year and a half ago and it’s been a great experience expanding my horizons. So, here is a little about what I have been doing.

Knowing your audience/client, what’s trending, and what sells are a few of your favorite things in marketing yourself. Dee and I worked together to revisit these 3 aspects regularly to keep our clients as well as ourselves up to date in the market. Our first huge project was giving the company a new look in redoing the website. It took a lot of ‘what do we want’ along with ‘what does our audience expect’ to create the look you see today. Rolling it out was well worth all fun and hard work put into it.

Finding images that speak of you and your company are not always easy and you want to avoid using images that tend to pop up all over the internet. Yes, you can use some since there are ways to search images, but you need a staple image that speaks YOU! The cover image on Personalized Marketing Inc’s site is just that. The image I speak of is the mobile phone with the chess pieces – for us it speaks strategy, mobility and flexibility. Which brings me to other things I have been doing with the company – Digital Art. That cover image was done by me. Something I love to dabble in but finding myself doing more of here. (Dee is fighting spreadsheets on her own, well for now anyway)

If a client has specific requests, I am more then willing to see what I can do to find what they need. If it can’t be found? I will create it if I can. Currently I am working on a site with such a request that I even took a trip to the beach to capture some needed images and video.

Recently, we advised a client that with the latest trends of her books, she may want to consider updating her covers on a series she has done well with. I was excited when she asked me to do them. Taking those who have purchased the book in the past, the category the books where trending in, and what other like books where hot sellers we came up with a plan and they came out great.

Oh, and I don’t stop there. Dee knows just how much I love to read. Seriously, I do love reading. My specialty in reading that I am a word by word reader. If there is a mistake, I will trip over it. So, now I have been doing editing work for the company – from websites, to posts, to books.

As you can see Personalized Marketing Inc is very versatile. We strive to know our clients and their audience, keep watch and assist above and beyond to keep them trending, and we work together to market you.

Onto Today’s Topic

Your Expectations & The Importance of Taking You Time

As Cindy Personalized Marketing Inc’s business manager says, “It’s the end of the 1st Quarter, where are you at, where did you expect to be, and what do you have to change?” If you are like many of us, the first quarter stats are where we will find these answers. Marketing, just like life requires change, so we must be open to it and look for the opportunities. One great place to determine where these opportunities might be found, is your social network feeds and see what the top stories are for the day.

Another area to look for potential change is where you sell your products. Does your product image stand out? Is the description both accurate and SEO rich? What about how it looks on mobile devices? Websites aren’t the only place that you need to be checking if you are responsive. One example would be authors, there are hundreds of thousands of books out there for readers. Then you have e-readers such as Kindle or Nook, both of which have a different layout than the computer browser version. You also must consider the mobile device they are reading on, is it a tablet or cellphone? Did you know that the amount of description being displayed is different for each of the platforms? Thankfully there are tools out there that help us see the different layouts.

Give yourself a couple of days and just spend it looking at the different products you offer and how they are being displayed to the world.

The Importance of Taking You Time

As the weather continues to get warmer, the need to go outside increases. We want to bask in the sunlight, draw in it’s warmth and feel the warmer breeze on our faces. As you may have noticed in our last blog, I am suffering from Spring Fever. I cannot wait to go outside, unplug from everything, dig in the dirt and work in my garden. Earlier this week we mowed our lawn for the first time this year and it was a great feeling. I didn’t have to think about what I was doing, just got out there and did it.

Here in lies a problem … I am not the only one out there excited about being outdoors, so are a lot of other people, and that could also include your focus groups. So, what do we do about this growing change in the habits of those we market too? We schedule posts around when their online. Stop, take in your surroundings, take time to smell the flowers, fire up the grill and share it with our followers. Being on social networks is all about being social. Putting up pictures of bunnies, flowers and sun kissed lakes are things that creates a sigh of peace and probably the people that are following you as well.

So go take some you time, use it to see what’s going on in the world around you, find some new inspiration and give yourself a chance to meander down the isle or through the park. Have a Happy & Blessed Easter!

Spring Marketing Flower - Personalized Marketing Inc

Spring Marketing

Also, as you may have noticed the tone of the blog has changed some over the past several months, partly because I began taking courses for an M.B.A. with a marketing concentration and I am sharing some of the information I have learned throughout my courses. Some of it is because of what we have going on with work, and some of the blogs because someone asked us to write one about it. So, as I write this blog, I am thinking about what useful information I can share and how it pertains to this exact moment.

Spring Marketing Flower - Personalized Marketing Inc

This week’s blog is about, yup you guessed it, Spring! At this time of year, it is a good time to reevaluate what you are doing, where you want to go and how you plan on getting there. We are nearing the end of March, the first quarter of the year and as the weather gets warmer outside, what projects we are going to do. This year, I am blessed enough to have a place where I can plant a garden with my grandchildren. The idea of getting outside and digging in the dirt has this geek going ‘Yippie!’ so as I begin to think of the work involved and what we want to plant, it has inspired a blog about Spring Marketing.

Spring marketing is more than just posting images about Spring being here, it’s also realizing that your target audiences have been just as cooped up as you have been. They are looking forward to getting outside more, maybe riding bikes, planting flowers, or just soaking up some much-needed sun. No matter what their plans are, the times they are online are going to change drastically. To understand better when they will be around to read those great posts you’ve been making you have to know your audience demographics and begin to calculate when to shift your posting times.

Hopefully, you have been reading some of our articles about analytics and know where to view at the very least the basics. If not, now is the time! Do NOT wait until April before you start working on knowing where, when and what to post. DO IT NOW!

Hopefully, you and your marketing company have been planning your spring marketing for a couple of months now. If not, then schedule that appointment today.

Spring, just like any other season has its own marketing niches and if you are not planning around them then you are missing out on some major opportunities. (Notice what is being advertised on TV, in Newspapers, over the Radio, they are all SPRING focused.) The big advertising agencies know that people are feeling the urge to get outside and beat the ‘cabin fever’ blues and you can either ride along the marketing trail or fight to stay where you are.

Wow!

Category:Articles By Dee Carver,Manager,Personalized Marketing Inc,PM Inc Tags :

So sitting here with Cindy, Personalized Marketing Inc’s manager, I am thinking about what today’s post should be about. A few weeks ago, life threw some serious curve balls and I found myself relying on Automation. Now we know how I feel about automating anything, I’m not a huge fan… Marketing, websites, newsletters, emails and anything thing you are putting out there, requires a personal touch. However, I learned a valuable lesson recently. Automation is not a bad thing. Its pretty much like any other piece of technology. It is what you make of it.

Granted, I schedule posts in advance and rely on automation to send them out. I plan client social media marketing material and use tools, such as Zoho Social, to send them out. However, it was not until recently that I embraced that tried and true form of ‘learning’ called ‘duh’. I spend each day planning out what we are putting on different social media networks and recently began using Google Calendar (Thanks to Cindy) for Personalized Marketing Inc items. I love my checklist and I want to see everything checked off by the end of the day. However, I was spending varying amounts of time each morning writing the same thing daily. By implementing daily and weekly tasks into the calendar, I spend less time planning and more time doing. I even found that spreadsheets have been saving me a ton of time looking stuff up by having things organized in a way that I can easily sort through.

I guess the focus of today’s ‘Wow’ is that 10 years later, I am still learning better ways to be more productive and offer more focused, quality time for our clients.

Project Planning – Leaving Room For More

Category:Articles By Dee Carver,Personalized Marketing Inc,PM Inc Tags :

Project Management - Personalized Marketing Inc

I know, this sounds more like one of my assignments versus a blog post, however, the project can be anything from launching a new product to rebranding your company image. We at Personalized Marketing Inc not only understand but have also recently gone through a rebranding phase. When you decide to start something new you should consider all the elements involved, such as the time you estimate it will take and then add some more. The steps to creating the new item, then add a few more. The time to launch the new item, then add a bit more time. Notice the theme taking place? “A few more / bit more.” When you start working on a new project one of the most important factors to remember is to be flexible. You may find yourself delayed or a task taking longer than anticipated. Also, let’s face it, we live in a digital age and I.T. is “In Theory” if nothing else.

So when it comes to launching a new product, let’s say a book, then you have to give yourself not just the time to finish writing and editing it but also time to market. Yes, I said finish editing it. Book launches should be planned out before the event. They should also start before the book goes on sale or at least when the pre-order option is available. When you are planning out the launch, you have to leave enough time for the final edits, the cover (if not previously made), uploading to your preferred retailer, their submission time, and then where all you want to talk about your book. You cannot just contact a major blog or website and assume that you can get exposure in the same week. Blogs and advertising sites that are popular can be scheduled up for a year in advance.

You also should leave time for collecting the information, such as where you are advertising, what reviews have been sent out, is there a special pricing period. These require using tools such as Excel or Project Manager. (Yes my manager, Cindy, is laughing because I used the “E” word). However, let’s face it when it comes to collecting large amounts of data that needs to be organized and accessed from different locations, spreadsheets or databases are the way to go. Leaving room for “more” means that when a task takes longer than anticipated you are not stressing out over the extra time, items, budgeting, ‘the more’ parts.

SEO – Personalized Marketing Inc 10 Year Anniversary

Category:Anniversary,Articles By Dee Carver,Personalized Marketing Inc,PM Inc Tags :

You are a “Needle in the haystack”
SEO helps the Search Engines list you and for us to find you.

What is SEO

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the use of keywords, images, meta tags, links and content that search engines use to determine your ranking. SEO is also website submission to those Search Engines and the use of Marketing. Think of SEO as a roadmap, maps tell us which turns to make to get to a destination. Search Engines tell users what destination to take based on their search.

Why is SEO important

SEO is important because if you do not have it, then you will rank low on the Search Engines. If people cannot find you or they do not know who you are but are looking for what you offer, and you are not listed within the first couple pages, then they are likely to go elsewhere. SEO not only leads to new people finding you it also helps your current followers know where all they can find you.

How come SEO takes so long?

Search Engine Optimization is not a short burst of activity, it takes time and dedication to get ranked, it takes time for the Search Engines to populate changes. Yes, there are ways you can ‘pay’ to be ranked rapidly at the top of a Search Engine, however, when you stop paying to be there, without the right efforts, you will fade from the top pages of the search. SEO if done right takes time, it takes making sure that your basics are covered, such as image names. When you put a new image up are you taking the time to name it something relevant, are you giving it a title? The same can be said for links and content, is it relevant to the page name, did you add those all important ‘headers’? Headers, bolding and italicizing are not just there for looks, they not only grab the readers attention, but they also tell the search engines information as well.

Real Marketing For Organic Growth PT 5

Finding The Balance Between
Marketing And Everything Else

As many know one of the hardest parts to marketing is finding the time to do it. Sure we use programs like Social Pilot and Hootsuite to help us schedule post and share from different sites, but that is only a part of the work involved. We still have to be on the networks to like and share, interact with our followers and engage the users. This means we have to find a balance between everything else we do and marketing.

One tool you can use to accomplish this is Google Calendar or any calendar that helps you to keep track of what you do each day. Personalized Marketing Inc uses Google Calendar, we actually have a few of them. I personally have 3 primary calendars, one for #PMInc events, PM Inc Daily task and a personal one. I put all my family’s appointments, my appointments, church events and pretty much anything that is not work related on it. I then add the Personalized Marketing Inc daily task as a guest. This puts the event on the Private Calendar for PM Inc’s daily list. I always set the personal events to private so I do not worry about it appearing on the Public Version. The PM Inc Daily task is also set to private since we value our client’s privacy. The Primary Personalized Marketing Inc calendar is set to public, this calendar has live events that either I or PM Inc is represented at. We also include public events for our clients on this calendar.

So today’s task for Real Marketing for Organic Growth is to find time for Marketing.

Now you can choose to have just one calendar, however, you might decide that you want to start using your Smartphone’s Calendar to find the balance between life and marketing.

1   1. Setup or Get a calendar (You can use a desktop calendar, just make sure you always carry it with you)

Determine how many calendars you need. Remember only do the amount you are willing to dedicate time to add events to.

2   2. For each day of the week fill out your daily obligations

Include everything … Getting family up, doing breakfast, going to the store, doctor appointments, other obligations, writing time

Now that you have filled in everything else, look at it and see where you can find time for marketing. Don’t panic if you realize you only have 15 minutes on one day and 30 on another day. Consistent marketing is not the minutes you spent but taking time each week to do it.

Time To Start A New Habit

The average person takes 30 days to start a new habit, so for the next month, you are going to have to commit to not just filling out your schedule but sticking to it. Let’s say you see you have 30 minutes each day free, it might be different times each day but it’s there. Put in that slot, FOCUS ON MARKETING. This is the time that you are going to dedicate to just marketing. You are going to pick a social network, check your notifications, share fan post and see what they are up to.

Granted knowing your fans, focus groups, ages, locations, times they are on helps but that requires a bit more knowledge of Analytics.

Real Marketing For Organic Growth PT 4

Category:PM Inc,Real Marketing for Organic Growth Tags :

Have you set yourself up to fail?

Have you scheduled yourself so thin that you cannot maintain all the different things you have put on your schedule? Probably. What happens when you take time off or get sick? Do you find that your different networks and sites show a drop due to it? When you take a vacation you find a sitter for your pets, you make sure that you ask neighbors to keep an eye on your home. So why not hire or ask someone to watch over your networks? Either hire someone/company or get a buddy system for your social networks.

Do you have too many different social network accounts/profiles? Possibly. Do you really want an account for each of your endeavors or books? NO. If you know that you are not going to maintain the network, then it’s best to not even start it. You can use Hashtags and other ways to separate the different personas/products. If you find yourself with too many networks, then you spread yourself and fans too thin to get the maximum exposure.

Do I really need to have the TOP 5 networks?

Yes, and the reason why is Do You Have A Million Dollars To Spend On Marketing? No, most of us don’t but these large Social Networks and the Search Engines supporting them do. Have you noticed that you have to log into Google+, YouTube, Blogspot with your Gmail or Tumblr with your Yahoo? That’s because those sites are owned or branded by major Search Engines and to get on those Engines you have to use their services.

What about accounts you have forgotten?

First of all, do not panic. It’s okay if you have forgotten your passwords, you can recover them. Now do you close them out? Maybe, but if you have done cross promotions with your website then you are setting yourself up for 404 errors or worse sending people to someone else’s profile. The best thing is to either not open the account to start or log in once a month to make sure the account is not compromised.
