13th Anniversary

Category:Personalized Marketing Inc Tags :

Can you believe it has been 13 years since Personalized Marketing Inc opened its doors? I opened them and I know I can’t! On a personal note, my first book was released 16 years ago … which was the unknown start to #PMInc. Originally, I wrote the book, got a website, learned the hard way about marketing, was asked to help a friend and then Personalized Marketing & Promotions was born.

Over the past 13 years, we have evolved from doing small websites and marketing, to WordPress, HTML, and others. While our marketing has remained true to Whitehat Methods, we now offer Organic Marketing which is designed to help you grow beyond your current reach. As some of you may know, I got a Bachelors in IT, with an Advanced Software Development Certificate. Then a couple years later I Graduated with a Master’s in Business and Graduate Marketing Certificate.

Before attending college, I met and became close friends with Cindy, who then in Feb 2019 became #PMInc’s Manager and my editor, cover artist, and guru.

We offer the following main services but are always open to adjusting for our clients’ needs.

Organic Marketing

We analyze your various online locations ensuring that you are reaching your viewers when they are available and putting out content that interest them.

Web Design

Spring Marketing

Category:Dee Carver,Personalized Marketing Inc,PM Inc,Real Marketing for Organic Growth,Website Design Tags :

At this time of year, it is a good time to reevaluate what you are doing, where you want to go and how you plan on getting there.

Spring marketing is more than just posting images about Spring being here, it’s also realizing that your target audiences have been just as cooped up as you have been. They are looking forward to getting outside more, maybe riding bikes, planting flowers, or just soaking up some much-needed sun. No matter what their plans are, the times they are online are going to change drastically.
To understand better when they will be around to read those great posts you’ve been making you have to know your audience demographics and begin to calculate when to shift your posting times. Hopefully, you have been reading some of our articles about analytics and know where to view at the very least the basics. If not, now is the time!

Wow was that 2020?

Category:Articles By Dee Carver,Cindy W,Consultants,Dee Carver,Personalized Marketing Inc,PM Inc Tags :

As we finish out the year, we can all agree that the way we shopped, communicated, spent time with family and friends has definitely changed. There are more people working from home now than ever before. There is also more online shopping than in previous years, Black Friday, Cyber Monday were both prime examples of this, with emails of sales starting even before Halloween.

Misconception

With this increased number of people being online more each day, the thought that online sales would skyrocket left some with a sour taste. Due to the changes in the economy and lack of funds, many businesses had to close their doors, and some will not be able to reopen. For those that are selling online, this is a big impact on your bottom line. The concept of missing work, smaller checks, being laid off has people budgeting even more than before. This misconception was that more people online meant more sales overall, which sadly was not the case.

Brighter 2021?

As we round the corner into the New Year, new search engine algorithms will be implemented, people will hope for a brighter 2021 and the belief that Covid will actually get under control. I do not know if Covid will be slowed down in 2021 or not; I do know that the way we did business before Covid has changed and I do not believe it will ever return.

Holding Your Breath or Surging Forward

As an online retailer, yes, this includes those that may only have a couple of items for sale on a social network, you can either ‘Hold your breath’ or Surge Forward. Personally, those we work with we are surging forward into 2021. We already have items in place, such as keyword preparations for the new algorithms, increased mobility on websites, different posting dates and times, and no longer comparing what happened before 2018 to what is taking place in 2021. For authors that means continuing to write and publish your books. For others that includes increasing your ads and planning them after the bills are paid but before the next round comes through.

Making your website and social networks user friendly is another way to surge forward. Personalized Marketing Inc has stressed many times that your website should be easy for the users to navigate, easy on the eyes and device friendly. Keeping your website coding up to date is a part of it. Making sure you are where your focus group is found and paying attention to what they care about. We could speculate on the other changes that may or may not be coming in 2021 or we can plan for what we can. One of my favorite sayings is the Serenity Prayer. “God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.” by Reinhold Niebuhr (n.d.)

I cannot change how we navigate online; I cannot change the economy, but I can change my approach to it and chose to keep surging forward.

Increase Your Exposure

One way that we are going to continue moving forward in 2021, is that #PMInc will be hosting guest seminars at Coffee Time Romance in February. We will be covering topics such as Marketing, Websites, Amazon, and many others. Another way that we are embracing the change from 2020 to 2021 is by several of our clients being a part of the Silver Dagger Book Tours.

We will also be launching our secondary site https://PMInc.Tech, which came about due to my own demise… lol… okay so its not that bad. As you may have noticed we have a branded hashtag, #PMInc which we have put out everywhere. Due to this process, #PMInc produces more results for us on Search Engines than Personalized Marketing Inc. It happens and either you learn from it and utilize it or you make the same mistakes again, I was not good at history as a teenager but now I get how important it is.

We look forward to working with you and helping your organic reach continue to grow in 2021.

Amazon and Rankings

Category:Articles By Dee Carver,Dee Carver,Personalized Marketing Inc,PM Inc Tags :

As we all know Amazon, Barnes and Nobles, iTunes, and other online retailers are CMS (Content Management System) based sites. What some might not realize is that they are also similar to search engines, especially when it comes to their algorithms.

For example, when you go to Google and put in keywords or a question, the results will vary based on what you queried. If you took the same words and rearranged them, you would find that the search results have changed. The same thing goes with Amazon and other book retailers, the words you use make an impact on the results you get.

Why are some better?

Recently a conversation of why certain genres does better than others was asked. A lot does depend on the current market, but it also depends on the quantity of products offered. If you have a book in a genre that only has a 3rd of the same as a different genre, the results are going to be more refined and provide less competition.

Paid Advertising

There is also paid advertising that happens on Amazon as well. These paid advertisements will have specific focus groups that you might have found yourself in as well. Also, if you notice when you search something on Google such as a particular book or genre, similar results appear on Amazon and even social networks like Facebook. That is because of the cookies that are in your browser cache. These cookies provide websites information about what you are interested in, where you are located and even your buying habits.

Variables

So back to why you may have or may not have ranked higher on Amazon or another book retailer, as you can tell there are many reasons why this may happen. Some of them beyond your control and other areas where you need to take a closer look at what you are putting out on the web.

  • Marketing and SEO play a major role in what is generated when you visit online retailers. Of course, you also have the items that Amazon and other sites are pushing from the company itself.
  • To improve your listing, take a look at what you have on your Amazon book page, your website, and do a random search on Google. Look at the meta content and determine if you are still using the right ones and where improvements need to be made.
  • Knowing and understanding your target market will help you to determine what needs changed and how.

Do not rely on the various systems to take care of it, publishing a book whether traditional or self-published requires work beyond the last line of the book.

Christmas Posting Is Here

Category:Consultants,Dee Carver,Personalized Marketing Inc,Real Marketing for Organic Growth,Website Design Tags :

It’s that time of the year for last minute shopping, carolers caroling, the hustle and bustle and of course getting ready because Christmas is almost here. As I sit here and write this blog, I can hear Christmas music playing from my son’s room and it’s pretty cool. For my home, we are anticipating family coming, spending the holiday sharing. It also means planning on posting and knowing when to send them out. As with each season the time and days are shifting and will shift again after the New Year and when the seasons change. Understanding when to post is just as important, if not more than knowing what to post.

How do you know when to post?

Understanding your network and website traffic is the best way. Getting in the back-end and see what days people came or interacted with what you shared, comparing it to previous months and years. Looking at not just Google Analytics but all analytics wherever you can get them. Now, a lot of social platform tools have analytics included but it’s always best to go to the source. You will get better details and can refine the time that you want to look at.

What to post?

What to post is always a challenge, do you only post your business, products, services, or do you mix in a little personal or funny occasionally. Well that is going to depend on you and where you are sharing too. If it’s a business page, then you are going to do more focused posting. However, people want to know who they are buying from and if you are an author, what makes you tick. People love to share their thoughts and opinions, and if they love a product or hate it, you can be sure that they are telling people. So, to understand what to post about other than ‘work’, check out your group’s demographics. Are they into dogs, cats, science? Then plan on post that are about those topics.

Did you recently buy something new for your home and love it? Share it! Let people know what kind of person you are by the taste you have for your own home. (Speaking of which, I know two people who need to do that…) if you want to ultimately skip the ‘getting to know you’ part, then focus on their other topics. Ask them if they have tried something, encourage them to share to your profile/pages by sharing something they have put out. If you have a physical business, then share your gust posts, tag them and let them know that their thoughts mattered.

Need Help?

Today’s blog ended up being a little longer than expected but I guess that’s due to planning holiday posts for clients. If you find yourself in need of help planning those post, or wanting a fresh look for your website then please shoot us an email or give us a call. We would be happy to see how we can help you.

Sorry it’s been a couple of weeks since I posted, busy time of the year and nasty sick, could be to blame but ultimately, we’ve been spending our time on client items. Sorry we missed out on posting for CyberWeek, however, if you mention Cyber Week and Christmas when you contact us, then we will give you the 15% off discount until the end of the year.

Behind the Scenes with Cindy

Category:Cindy W,Consultants,Manager,Personalized Marketing Inc,PM Inc Tags :

Dee decided to take a break for this blog so we figured I would pop in and talk to you. Who’s this? You may have read Dee talking about her manager, Cindy. That’s ME! I joined Personalized Marketing Inc. a little over a year and a half ago and it’s been a great experience expanding my horizons. So, here is a little about what I have been doing.

Knowing your audience/client, what’s trending, and what sells are a few of your favorite things in marketing yourself. Dee and I worked together to revisit these 3 aspects regularly to keep our clients as well as ourselves up to date in the market. Our first huge project was giving the company a new look in redoing the website. It took a lot of ‘what do we want’ along with ‘what does our audience expect’ to create the look you see today. Rolling it out was well worth all fun and hard work put into it.

Finding images that speak of you and your company are not always easy and you want to avoid using images that tend to pop up all over the internet. Yes, you can use some since there are ways to search images, but you need a staple image that speaks YOU! The cover image on Personalized Marketing Inc’s site is just that. The image I speak of is the mobile phone with the chess pieces – for us it speaks strategy, mobility and flexibility. Which brings me to other things I have been doing with the company – Digital Art. That cover image was done by me. Something I love to dabble in but finding myself doing more of here. (Dee is fighting spreadsheets on her own, well for now anyway)

If a client has specific requests, I am more then willing to see what I can do to find what they need. If it can’t be found? I will create it if I can. Currently I am working on a site with such a request that I even took a trip to the beach to capture some needed images and video.

Recently, we advised a client that with the latest trends of her books, she may want to consider updating her covers on a series she has done well with. I was excited when she asked me to do them. Taking those who have purchased the book in the past, the category the books where trending in, and what other like books where hot sellers we came up with a plan and they came out great.

Oh, and I don’t stop there. Dee knows just how much I love to read. Seriously, I do love reading. My specialty in reading that I am a word by word reader. If there is a mistake, I will trip over it. So, now I have been doing editing work for the company – from websites, to posts, to books.

As you can see Personalized Marketing Inc is very versatile. We strive to know our clients and their audience, keep watch and assist above and beyond to keep them trending, and we work together to market you.

Onto Today’s Topic

Your Expectations & The Importance of Taking You Time

As Cindy Personalized Marketing Inc’s business manager says, “It’s the end of the 1st Quarter, where are you at, where did you expect to be, and what do you have to change?” If you are like many of us, the first quarter stats are where we will find these answers. Marketing, just like life requires change, so we must be open to it and look for the opportunities. One great place to determine where these opportunities might be found, is your social network feeds and see what the top stories are for the day.

Another area to look for potential change is where you sell your products. Does your product image stand out? Is the description both accurate and SEO rich? What about how it looks on mobile devices? Websites aren’t the only place that you need to be checking if you are responsive. One example would be authors, there are hundreds of thousands of books out there for readers. Then you have e-readers such as Kindle or Nook, both of which have a different layout than the computer browser version. You also must consider the mobile device they are reading on, is it a tablet or cellphone? Did you know that the amount of description being displayed is different for each of the platforms? Thankfully there are tools out there that help us see the different layouts.

Give yourself a couple of days and just spend it looking at the different products you offer and how they are being displayed to the world.

The Importance of Taking You Time

As the weather continues to get warmer, the need to go outside increases. We want to bask in the sunlight, draw in it’s warmth and feel the warmer breeze on our faces. As you may have noticed in our last blog, I am suffering from Spring Fever. I cannot wait to go outside, unplug from everything, dig in the dirt and work in my garden. Earlier this week we mowed our lawn for the first time this year and it was a great feeling. I didn’t have to think about what I was doing, just got out there and did it.

Here in lies a problem … I am not the only one out there excited about being outdoors, so are a lot of other people, and that could also include your focus groups. So, what do we do about this growing change in the habits of those we market too? We schedule posts around when their online. Stop, take in your surroundings, take time to smell the flowers, fire up the grill and share it with our followers. Being on social networks is all about being social. Putting up pictures of bunnies, flowers and sun kissed lakes are things that creates a sigh of peace and probably the people that are following you as well.

So go take some you time, use it to see what’s going on in the world around you, find some new inspiration and give yourself a chance to meander down the isle or through the park. Have a Happy & Blessed Easter!

More Than Just Social Site Marketing

Category:Articles By Dee Carver,Personalized Marketing,Personalized Marketing Inc,PM Inc,Real Marketing for Organic Growth Tags :

Why Social Site Marketing Is NOT Enough - Personalized Marketing Inc

Why Social Site Marketing Alone Is NOT Enough

I bet many readers looking at that title went ‘huh?’, I know, because I would have had the same reaction at one point in time. I would have said but social site marketing is a key component to marketing and I would have been sadly mistaken. Marketing alone is just not enough.

You also have to do Search Engine Marketing, Email Marketing, Search Engine Optimization, and you have to combine these different elements together. It’s great to have a large social reach but unless everything you have is being listed on that network then you might find yourself with a large problem, no final actions (sales, sign-ups, subscribers). Being on a social network is required but if you do not have a blog or website where the same information you put on that network, then people can only find you in one location.

Social Reach

So let’s pretend that you have a ‘Cyber Monday’ sale going to happen but the only place you have referred to it is on your blog. The people on your social networks will not know about it unless they happen to follow your blog. Now picture you have created this stunning advertisement for ‘Facebook’ and then did not send the viewers anywhere, sure you reached a lot of people but it did not do any good for your business.

SEO Again?

Now comes the kicker… You do put the ad on your Social Site and Website, did you send it out to your email followers? A better question, did you optimize the announcement and landing page for SEO? You have put forth this great ad but there is no marketing plan, no Search Engine Optimization, and you have not contacted those who already want to hear from you. The ad itself is not going to reach its full potential and with some of the changes on social networks, you cannot count on it being the primary source of potential buyers.

Analysis

So let’s say you have put the ad on your website, social network, sent an email blast and even optimized it for search engines, awesome! Did you put the post out at the best times? This is where network analysis can make or break your marketing budget. If you do not know what day or time is the best to advertise it then you will find yourself missing out on a potentially huge market.

Need Help?

Marketing Managers / Coordinators know that you have to have a full circle of planning. You have to plan launch dates, you have to know when to start, what your peak days and times are, you have to have the ‘goal’ and follow-through action decided. It cannot just be ‘sell more’ because then you are only focusing on the bottom dollar and not preparing for growth.

Personalized Marketing Inc offers organic growth through real marketing, that means we are not just your marketing coordinators, we are also your publicist, web technicians, SEO team, email, and newsletter support, and we are the company that helps you with it all. We take the time to analyze not just your needs but also your current places and planning. We adapt to meet your current and future goals, we do not just help you to understand we also execute the best strategies for you. We are here to help not just the businesses or corporations but also the individuals and entrepreneurs. We are a Marketing Management Company, we are a Web Design and Support Consultant, we are Your SEO support, we are what you and your business’ needs to reach the next level of your dreams.

SEO – Personalized Marketing Inc 10 Year Anniversary

Category:Anniversary,Articles By Dee Carver,Personalized Marketing Inc,PM Inc Tags :

You are a “Needle in the haystack”
SEO helps the Search Engines list you and for us to find you.

What is SEO

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the use of keywords, images, meta tags, links and content that search engines use to determine your ranking. SEO is also website submission to those Search Engines and the use of Marketing. Think of SEO as a roadmap, maps tell us which turns to make to get to a destination. Search Engines tell users what destination to take based on their search.

Why is SEO important

SEO is important because if you do not have it, then you will rank low on the Search Engines. If people cannot find you or they do not know who you are but are looking for what you offer, and you are not listed within the first couple pages, then they are likely to go elsewhere. SEO not only leads to new people finding you it also helps your current followers know where all they can find you.

How come SEO takes so long?

Search Engine Optimization is not a short burst of activity, it takes time and dedication to get ranked, it takes time for the Search Engines to populate changes. Yes, there are ways you can ‘pay’ to be ranked rapidly at the top of a Search Engine, however, when you stop paying to be there, without the right efforts, you will fade from the top pages of the search. SEO if done right takes time, it takes making sure that your basics are covered, such as image names. When you put a new image up are you taking the time to name it something relevant, are you giving it a title? The same can be said for links and content, is it relevant to the page name, did you add those all important ‘headers’? Headers, bolding and italicizing are not just there for looks, they not only grab the readers attention, but they also tell the search engines information as well.
