Taking Care Of You: ME Time.
Being a single mom during the week and working with various authors, my day can be hectic. Not to mention my week. My husband works out of town and only home on the weekends. I try to leave those days for family time. We have 5 children ranging from 8 to 23. The two oldest are out on their own which helps but we also have two grandchildren with two on the way.
During the week, after getting the kids off to school, I come back and get the house straightened up and laundry going. Next, I sit down at the computer and get to work helping authors. Some days are better than others depending on meetings, new releases, cover reveals, blog tours, parties - you get the point. To make it even more interesting I started working with New Degree Press and helping 15 college kids with editing their books and helping them get ready to publish in December.
Stress can get to me pretty darn quickly if I let it. I try to get most work done while boys are at school so I can help with homework and snacks. It hardly happens. I end up going right back to work after their time. Thankfully my boys understand and try and help me as much as they can with little things around the house.
To help me unwind and de-stress I read. I love reading and it is nice to let myself go into another time or place. I forget what bothered me or the hard work I have put in. When the boys go to bed usually around 9 to 9:30 pm that is ME time. I look forward to it. I can relax and let my mind go or at least I try to. Some days are hard when I am waiting on a response from someone or I can’t turn my thoughts off. Reading comes in pretty handy. I have to take care of me to take care of my family.
About Babs
There is a lot about me most people do not know. I am very shy until I get to know someone. I do not like crowds as they scare me and always have. I am more of a loner than anything. I have been through a lot in my life, but I came out stronger than ever. I have survived cancer when I was younger, lost two babies Morgan and Kincaid, my dear angels, watched my husband fight his cancer, and him losing sight in his right eye, to taking care of us all. I would not change a thing. I adore my life and my family.
I love to write. I have written 2 novellas and a children’s book in hopes of getting them published. One of these days I hope that dream will come true. I did have one poem published a few years ago. One of the novellas is a mystery of course. The other one is a romance/mystery about one of Jane Austen’s characters. How could anyone think otherwise? You will have to stay tuned as I am working on my 3rd novel which is a sequel to the first book I wrote. You can click on the my regular website section and see what they are all about.
I also enjoy working on my crafts, puzzles, cooking, baking, gardening along with my reading and writing of course.
If you haven’t figured it out I am a big fan of Jane Austen.
