Hello everyone!

 

I had originally planned on a post about email platforms and the unknown pitfalls. Which I had planned on posting a couple of times… However, it appears that the blog is MIA, so I can take the hint… No grumbling over missing emails and the server issues that may be hidden in your storage usage. If you have recently emailed us and not gotten a reply it’s very likely it is out taking a tour in cyberspace, so please do email us again. (Server platform has been changed!)

 

So, what are we going to chat about today?
Yup you guessed it Seasonal Marketing.

 

October is here, fall has come at last and if you are not already planning your November and December posts it’s time. There are a lot of events going on over the next 3 months and you should be checking into them, monitoring what pertains to you and how your post over the next 10 weeks are going to line out. Why 10 weeks? Well that’s how many are left before Christmas and it is bound to be another busy season. We have discussed planning your holiday marketing in the past, so for this week’s blog I am going to recap a few of those, found a few more than I realized so here are some highlights.

During our “Real Marketing For Organic Growth” blog series, we have discussed different topics from hashtags to being on different platforms. However, for all of our good intentions, for all of our planning and preparing, Life Happens. Some of life’s changes can be for the better, some though are hard and the world as you know it has changed. Working through this phase in life can prove to be a bigger challenge than what you expected and you find yourself falling short. When this happens, you can either let it beat you down or get back up and try again.

The very definition of Diversify – “make or become more diverse or varied.” Is a clear indication of not only how we should be as a people but also how we should be in our marketing. As I’m sure many of you have seen the changes to Twitter’s Character count and probably heard about the Business Feed testing Facebook is doing, you may be wondering how it affects you.

If you are selling, promoting, working online, and use social media then you are affected by these changes.

 

Real Marketing for Organic Growth: Thanksgiving – To Advertise or Not

So, how do you deal with all the advertisements and still entice others to pay attention to yours?

Well you could jump on the band wagon and do your own Thanksgiving Day, Black Friday or Cyber Monday event. You could then piggyback of sorts off all the others that are doing it. You could go a little more traditional and just wish everyone a Happy Holiday Weekend remembering that it is a season of giving and not necessarily receiving. You could also chose to not do anything special at all.

Automation is the key to family time, so find a program and schedule those holiday post now!

It’s That Time … Holiday Marketing

Each year we realize once again that the holidays have snuck up on us. That the time we once thought we had for extra things like ‘marketing’ is suddenly gone. We look at the calendar and only then do we realize that next week only has a couple of days we can focus on work. The rest of our time will be bouncing between home, family, preparations, and all the other obligations that come with this time of year.

 

Those are just a few of the blogs we have discussed on Holiday Marketing over the past 3 years. As you plan for Halloween (only 20 days away) think about your #October #Diversity message. Support your local #BreastCancerAwareness organization, taking time to enjoy the falling leaves, they won't last long. Most of all give yourself the time you need to not just work on your marketing plans but also life.

Regression Analysis In Social Media Marketing

Wow, it feels like forever since I wrote a blog post about marketing and this week’s blog is a little different than normal. I had previously written and saved a post about email platforms and their pitfalls, however that changed. Hang on tight, I’m having a ‘geek’ moment with this topic and yes, I had Cindy edit it since I get a little ‘uhm’ focused…

While doing some research in class, I came across a definition that resonated with me, that I immediately applied to Social Marketing: regression analysis in business. Personally, I found a simple definition that breaks it down and makes it easy to understand. According to Hunkar Ozyasar (2019) "Regression is a statistical tool used to understand and quantify the relation between two or more variables. Regressions range from simple models to highly complex equations. The two primary uses for regression in business are forecasting and optimization. In addition to helping managers predict such things as future demand for their products, regression analysis helps fine-tune manufacturing and delivery processes."

I am always trying to optimize the results that we provide for our clients, one example would be their social media marketing. Recently, the same shift that I have seen happen over the past 11 years is taking place, optimal posting time changes. By analyzing the data, I am better able to determine when the best time to post is, which puts the customers information about their products or services out at the peak times when their followers would see it, which impacts the delivery of network posting. This posting shift happens throughout the year and will shift again before 2019 is over.

At Personalized Marketing Inc, we do analytics on social networks that we monitor and then use that information to determine how well we are doing our jobs. The information is also used to base what days and times are best for posting. It can also provide useful information about network peak time shifts. Now those who live on their social channels probably won’t notice that there is a time the network is slower than others. They may also not notice that some days are more active than other days, but for those who are using social networks to reach current and future connections, they just might.

The time of year, the season, the holidays, current events and even weather can play a ‘huge’ roll in whether that awesome post you wrote gets seen. Just because it sits on your timeline or on your business page does not mean that it reached the target audience. So, let’s use Facebook after work… Just like your target audience you get a ton of notifications of things you have missed. Now you might click every single one and check them all out but while you are that notorious feed is still going strong. Or if you are on your phone, you click that notification, check it out, then bam you are scrolling through another page. What happened to all those other notifications, if you notice the number count is gone! They are still there but the reminder is missing until a new notification comes back. Sure, your phone might have told you that you had 25 notifications, but you went down the pathway towards somewhere else following just one. Guess what? So did your target audience. Paying attention to when, what channel, what content and how to reach your target audience is all hidden inside that important data. Knowing what’s trending now is important, knowing your networks history is just as important!

Behind the Scenes with Cindy

Dee decided to take a break for this blog so we figured I would pop in and talk to you. Who’s this? You may have read Dee talking about her manager, Cindy. That’s ME! I joined Personalized Marketing Inc. a little over a year and a half ago and it’s been a great experience expanding my horizons. So, here is a little about what I have been doing.

Knowing your audience/client, what’s trending, and what sells are a few of your favorite things in marketing yourself. Dee and I worked together to revisit these 3 aspects regularly to keep our clients as well as ourselves up to date in the market. Our first huge project was giving the company a new look in redoing the website. It took a lot of ‘what do we want’ along with ‘what does our audience expect’ to create the look you see today. Rolling it out was well worth all fun and hard work put into it.

Finding images that speak of you and your company are not always easy and you want to avoid using images that tend to pop up all over the internet. Yes, you can use some since there are ways to search images, but you need a staple image that speaks YOU! The cover image on Personalized Marketing Inc’s site is just that. The image I speak of is the mobile phone with the chess pieces – for us it speaks strategy, mobility and flexibility. Which brings me to other things I have been doing with the company – Digital Art. That cover image was done by me. Something I love to dabble in but finding myself doing more of here. (Dee is fighting spreadsheets on her own, well for now anyway)

If a client has specific requests, I am more then willing to see what I can do to find what they need. If it can’t be found? I will create it if I can. Currently I am working on a site with such a request that I even took a trip to the beach to capture some needed images and video.

Recently, we advised a client that with the latest trends of her books, she may want to consider updating her covers on a series she has done well with. I was excited when she asked me to do them. Taking those who have purchased the book in the past, the category the books where trending in, and what other like books where hot sellers we came up with a plan and they came out great.

 

Oh, and I don’t stop there. Dee knows just how much I love to read. Seriously, I do love reading. My specialty in reading that I am a word by word reader. If there is a mistake, I will trip over it. So, now I have been doing editing work for the company – from websites, to posts, to books.

As you can see Personalized Marketing Inc is very versatile. We strive to know our clients and their audience, keep watch and assist above and beyond to keep them trending, and we work together to market you.

Onto Today’s Topic

Your Expectations & The Importance of Taking You Time

 

As Cindy Personalized Marketing Inc’s business manager says, “It’s the end of the 1st Quarter, where are you at, where did you expect to be, and what do you have to change?” If you are like many of us, the first quarter stats are where we will find these answers. Marketing, just like life requires change, so we must be open to it and look for the opportunities. One great place to determine where these opportunities might be found, is your social network feeds and see what the top stories are for the day.

Another area to look for potential change is where you sell your products. Does your product image stand out? Is the description both accurate and SEO rich? What about how it looks on mobile devices? Websites aren’t the only place that you need to be checking if you are responsive. One example would be authors, there are hundreds of thousands of books out there for readers. Then you have e-readers such as Kindle or Nook, both of which have a different layout than the computer browser version. You also must consider the mobile device they are reading on, is it a tablet or cellphone? Did you know that the amount of description being displayed is different for each of the platforms? Thankfully there are tools out there that help us see the different layouts.

Give yourself a couple of days and just spend it looking at the different products you offer and how they are being displayed to the world.

The Importance of Taking You Time 

 

As the weather continues to get warmer, the need to go outside increases. We want to bask in the sunlight, draw in it’s warmth and feel the warmer breeze on our faces. As you may have noticed in our last blog, I am suffering from Spring Fever. I cannot wait to go outside, unplug from everything, dig in the dirt and work in my garden. Earlier this week we mowed our lawn for the first time this year and it was a great feeling. I didn’t have to think about what I was doing, just got out there and did it.

Here in lies a problem … I am not the only one out there excited about being outdoors, so are a lot of other people, and that could also include your focus groups. So, what do we do about this growing change in the habits of those we market too? We schedule posts around when their online. Stop, take in your surroundings, take time to smell the flowers, fire up the grill and share it with our followers. Being on social networks is all about being social. Putting up pictures of bunnies, flowers and sun kissed lakes are things that creates a sigh of peace and probably the people that are following you as well.

 

So go take some you time, use it to see what’s going on in the world around you, find some new inspiration and give yourself a chance to meander down the isle or through the park. Have a Happy & Blessed Easter!

Christmas Excitement?

Are you excited about Christmas? Have you finished your holiday shopping or are you still looking for that perfect gift?

Christmas is in full swing here at my house. The tree is decorated, the lights are on the porch, gifts are being wrapped, and Christmas Dinner is already being planned. Now, all we have to do is wrap the rest of the gifts, finish planning dinner, cooking dinner, setting schedules, get ready for school break, plan, prepare, change plans, prepare again, make arrangements… etc. We are definitely in full swing here.

So what about marketing, promoting, writing, editing, creating, ya know work?

Well for us, its all about those two final weeks of the month… Christmas and New Years. We already know that working is going to be limited and even if we do get quiet time, Dec 26th is on a Wednesday, which means that there are 3 days from December 24th to Jan 2nd for full days of work. So how do you get 2 weeks worth of work done in 3 days?

You plan ahead, you prepare your post, you schedule the time to focus on specific tasks, and you work as many minutes as possible.

Diversify

However, there is no reason to raise flags, have a cause for concern or worry about what comes next. As we have discussed in previous articles you are already being social on your social networks. You are already engaging with your friends, fans, followers and you use more than one network.

Also, because the very topic of this article is what you should be doing if you are not already, Diversify. You should not be relying on one particular social media account. There are several different services out there and yes some are considered on the top of the social media “list”. Remember, you define your own top list though. If you find that you have more success from using Pinterest, then it is your top social media.

Cross Promotion is a beautiful thing.

It allows you to diversify and spread the word about you, your company, your book, or your services on various social media networks. Sure when and if the business feeds appear in your location you will want to share that with your followers. However, if you are already interacting with them, they are most likely following you already. Facebook will offer paid services to appear in the main feed and whether you chose to use that option is up to you and your marketing team.

Change in social media is not only expected but going to happen. Not too long ago MySpace was considered a top network on the “list” yet how many people use it or even have their original accounts today?

So embrace the diversity, encourage social interactions and remember that your social media networks are only a part of your online marketing and your website is and always should be the primary source of information about you.
